Corrosion Resistance

We shake our head when browsing competitors when we see soon to be unuseable rusting junk offered without regard to customer experiences that come with it, and with no warning. "There's a sucker born every minute." In the spirit of having want you want, we will carry certain very popular merchandise that we cannot recommend, but you will be advised of what you are getting before you insist on buying it.

When it comes to the shiny generic zinc plated ("electro-galvanized") chain and fasteners, you won't find them here. The plated steel hardware is that stuff that is shockingly susceptible to rust outdoors. We do carry the vinyl, or "plastisol", coated chain. You can't get galvanized chain with that coating. But we try to point it out as much as possible without being obnoxious. Our "soft-grip" chains, unlike some competitors, are galvanized and should be considered a far better choice.

Galvanized, and we mean "hot-dipped" galvanized, can be recognized by it's matte finish, and the coarser the better. It costs more, but it will hold up to the weather much better and that is our standard. If want "rust-proof", you want stainless steel, but it gets pricey.

Bottom line, know what you are buying (or just let Jim know in advance what you are looking for) and buy the best quality hardware you can afford. It's the heart of you play set.
